An Art exhibition of work by women is taking place on Tuesday at Politia Cafe in Paphos to mark International Women’s Day.
Organised by Females in the Art (FITA) the show is described as including an array of work which celebrates women’s feelings. The show has been running since February 20.Tuesday’s event celebrates the centenary of International Women’s Day.
FITA launched last year and has held three shows in Paphos and one in Nicosia with a second show in the capital scheduled for the middle of this month. The group holds exhibitions in hotels, restaurants and cafes as a way to reach as wide an audience as possible.
“FITA acts as an agent for women and provides them with appropriate platforms to market their works. It also assists with targeting audiences via the worldwide web through a direct blogging, news, sourcing and tracking system which links up with other like-minded, talented women,” FITA Founder Janice Ruffle told. “This truly international event embrances female-led creativity from not only Cyprus but England Romania, Slovakia, Holland, Belgium, Bulgaria and Russia.”
FITA member Andry Sergiou will open the event at 8pm, which will be followed by a talk in Greek and English by a representative of Europe Donna. The Cypriot branch of the European Breast Cancer Coalition, europa Donna is an independent non-profit organisation whose members are affiliated groups from countries throughout Europe . it works to raise awareness of breast cancer and press for improwed breast cancer education and increased funding for research.
