Boating and Fishing Fair in Limassol-Cyprus

The 4th Pancyprian Boating and fishing Fair is to be held at My Mail, Limassol from May 5-8, with the official inauguration of the exhibition to be held on Thursday at 6pm.

This is the first year that the event will not be held at the Limassol Port, due to the renovation and construction works currentl taking place around the port and old town.

Organised by the Cyprus Fishing Magazine and Limassol Municipality, as a joint venture, the event has grown dramatically since it was originally created 3 years ago.

According to exhibition organiser Aristos Aristidou, who also founded Cyprus fishing Magazine six years ago, this year`s Fair promises to be “the biggest and the most specialised exhibition about the sea, fishing and boats…and the biggest gathering of people who love and care about the sea, in Cyprus.”

This year`s 3,000 sq m exhibition space at Limassol`s My Mall will feature 48 stands and is expected to receive at least 6,000 visitors during its opening times, many of whom are attending from the UK, Greece and other European countries. The exhibition promises plenty of surprises, the biggest boat show, with suppliers, contractors and companies showcasing their diving, fishing, ancillary and maintenance uquipment, in “the most complete boating show ever.”

Aristidou went on to add that “our main aim in putting on the Fair originally was to help provide our port town of Limassol with its first boat ramp.

“We successfully achieved this with the slipway by the Holiday Inn Hotel and now we hope to provide a second ramp near the port itself.”

Mayor Andreas Christou, who made the press conference announcement this week, said: “Our town is richer thanks to the enormous efforts of Aristidou and his team.

“Their passion and commitment has raised more than 20,000 Euro since the first exhibition and Limassol now has its first ramp.

“We thank them so much for their generosity and are thrilled to be associated with the 4th Exhibition, which we are sure will be even more successful than previous years.”

Representatives from the 2 main sponsors of the Fair, Peratikos and Jotun, were also present at the press conference.

The Fair will be officially inaugurated on Thursday, May 5, with the Opening Ceremony at 5.30pm.

It will close at 9.30pm.

On Friday may 6, the Fair will be open from 5.30pm-9.30pm and on Saturday may 7 and Sunday May 8, it will be open from 11.30am-9.30pm.
