MPs from the Cyprus All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) are due here on Monday in an aim to deepen the British Parliament’s understanding of how best to support a just and viable settlement.
During their five-day visit they meet Cypriot deputies , Commerce Minister Antonis Paschalides and British High Commissioner Matthew Kidd. They will also look in to the issue of cultural heritage and visit Famagusta.
“The Cyprus APPG’s overall aim is to foster good relations between the UK and Cyprus and visiting the island is a way to fulfil this aim,” it said.
Speaking ahead of the visit , David Burrowes , Conservative MP (Enfield) and Chairman of the Cyprus APPG said: “ I was pleased that the government has reaffirmed its commitment to see a solution to the Cyprus problem. I look forward to leading the Cyprus APPG delegation next week.
There will be at least seven MPs, which largest Parliamentary delegations to have ever visited Cyprus. i am particularly pleased that a number of newly-elected MPs will be coming.”
