The JSGC in Dhekelia has played host to a vast number of golfers from many parts of the world including Britain, Ireland, Germany, Canada, USA, South Africa, and Egpyt all taking part in the annual Festival of Golf that commenced as always with a two day 36 hole Ladies Open.

The Ladies Open competition was played in dreadful windy conditions for the second year in succession. The result was that local club member Randi Steele walked away with the Ladies Open trophy ahead of a field of 41.

This Larnaca Blue Wave restaurant sponsored completion supported twenty prize-winners that comprised of six Gross and six Nett prizes with 4 day and 4 associated prizes.

At the presentation, Mrs Penny Mulligan Captain of the Ladies`Section invited the Station Commander Dhelika, Lieutenant Colonel Pat Burns to present the prizes on behalf of the sponsors Blue Wave proprietors Maria and Chris Andreas.

The winner was Randi Steele.

In mid-week it was the turn of the one day 18 hole Seniors Open competition that saw a large field of 107 competitors competing in gusty conditions for one of the 10 prizes sponsored for the 13^th year by Carlsberg, Cyprus.

With only 2 points separating the fifth from the first and a three-way tie for 1^st, winning on count back, local club member Graham Robinson proudly stood at the podium holding the winner`s trophy.

The Club Captain, Bruce McAulay, invited the sponsor`s representatives, Fivos Markides and Marios Sclaver to present the prizes to the winners.

The final to the festival was the 3-day 54 hole Cyprus Airways sponsored Dhekelia Open.

A Gross competition with Nett prizes that saw a field of fifty seven tee off in good weather conditions competing for one of the 21 prizes comprising of six day prizes, five Nett prizes and ten Gross prizes of trophies, golfing equipment and Cyprus Airway vouchers.

At the prize giving the Club Captain Bruce McAulay sincerely thanked the competition sponsors for their continued support, six years to date.

Station Commander Dhelekia, Lieutenant Colonel Pat Burns presented the prizes on behalf of Cyprus Airways. Steve Rowe was the winner here.
