Larnaka City

Larnaka is a significant tourist and commercial centre and is a convenient base for exploring the island, though its own places of interest are fairly limited. The modern city is built on the remains of ancient Kition, which was , according to the legend, established by one of Noah’s grandsons in the 13th century BC.

Larnaka became an important trading centre, and it has long had a large foreign population.  Larnaka has a long history, but much of the evidence has been covered by the modern city. However, you can track down archaeological remains and a few historic churches.
