Sightings of herons galore were one of the highlights of this year’s second bird-watching trip organised on Saturday by the Northern Cyprus Society for the Protection of Birds and Nature(Kuskor)
Members and guests of Kuskor visited Kalkanli and the Akdeniz area, and travelled through the forest to Camlibel and Gecitkoy. Birds sighted included the Squacco Heron, Great White Egret, Little Egret, Purple Heron, Grey Heron, Black Winged Stolt and Hoopoe.
Joining the society’s experts was Hisarkoy resident Tony Hutchinson, who was able to give value insights into the wildlife and plants of Cyprus.
Kuskor’s final spring field trip is planned for early May, at a cost of 30TL for non-members, and anyone wishing to take part should e-mail info@kuskor.org.
The society will also be represented at tomorrow’s KAR Dog Show, next month’s Heart and Soul Exhibition and the Ozankoy Flower Show, on April 30 and May 1.
