Limassol’s Carnival King will this year be replaced by an Amazon Queen in what is set to be the town’s largest Carnival ever. The festivities begin on Thursday-`Tsiknopempti`-with Carnival serenade Miltos Papadopoulos as the Amazon Queen leading the procession from the Town Hall at 7pm. Speaking to the press yesterday, Limassol mayor Andreas Christou also announced that a higher number of participants than ever before would be taking part in this year’s Grand Parade. He said that there would be 95 groups of participants as well as six floats carrying groups of Carnival serenaders, raising the number to 101.
