New Name For Airport Under Discussion
Paphos International Airport could be renamed following a suggestion from the Paphos Chambers of Commerce and Industry, EVE.
The body has proposed to the Ministry of Communications and Works that the airport’s name be changed to `Paphos Aphrodite Airport` in order to connect the area’s mythological heritage with modern times.
“following the inauguration of both Paphos and Larnaca airports, there have been discussions underway about changing their names,” airport operator, Hermes spokesman ,Adamos Aspris told /
“Paphos airport would be changed to `Paphos Aphrodite Airport` while Larnaca would become `Larnaca Zenon Airport`. But we have to make clear that we are at the dialogue stage and no decision has been made. It is not only Hermes Airports’ decision. The final go ahead would come from the government.”
The name change would be part of a wider effort to attract tourists through promotion of the airports.
