In a first for Cyprus , Insurance was only available. Until recently, pet insurance was only available as part of wider insurance schemes but Cosmos Insurance, in cooperation with the International Insurance Agency Catlin Underwriting Agencies Ltd, presented its new Pet Insurance and Livestock & Farm Livestock Insurance schemes.
The new plans aim to provide better protection to pet owners and farmers, in connection with veterinary fees as well as general coverage for third party liability.
Stefi Drakou, General Manager of the Cyprus Insurance Association and Sotos Kyriakides, President of the Cyprus Insurance Institute, attended a Wednesday, presentation during which Senior Officers of Catlin Underwriting, specialising in livestock insurance, presented the plans.
The event was also attended by a large number of insurance agents and people involved in livestock, fish farming and pet care.
Speaking at the event, Drakou said: “The fact that this is the first time this product, directed at niche markets, will be used in Cyprus means Cosmos will be alone in the market.” The PetCare plan covers dogs and cats only in the domestic sector, and covers veterinary fees due to accidental external injury, death due to accidental external injury and third party liability.
