Cyprus is one of the perfect places to learn how to fly . Paragliding is the simplest and purest form of flying there is. Cyprus is not yet a paragliding “heaven”, but many visiting pilots have very good reasons why they want to come and fly in Cyprus. There are not many places in the world where in 30 to 60 minutes drive, you can swim, windsurfing scuba dive, fly or ski in the same day. The most well known paragliding sites are : the hill of the ancient Curium, Dora, Kalo Chorio and Stavrovouni, which is situated near the pyrga village, in Larnaka, on the east side of the high-way from Limassol to Nicosia. The first three sites that were mentioned above are situated in the district of Limassol.
There are many Cypriot paragliding and hang gliding pilots, who are members of the Ikaros Paragliding and Hang gliding club and the Cyprus Air-sports Federation. The Cyprus Air-sports Federation is a member of the FAI and its annual events include National Air Rallies, Parachuting, Hang-Gliding, Paragliding and Aeromodelling championship.
