Cynet-the Cyprus Research and Academic Network Certificate Service has announced that it is now able to provide digital certificates for the Cypriot Research and Academic Community.
Attached to the University of Cyprus, Cynet is part of the TERENA’s Certificate Service which provides various types of worldwide recognised certificates.
According to an announcement from Cynet this week, it is currently able to provide the following certificate types: Server Certificate-for authenticating servers and establishing secure sessions with end clients, e-Science Server Certificate-for authenticating grid hosts and services and Code-singing Certificates-for authenticating software distributed over the Internet.
“In a later phase Cynet will be able to also provide the following type of certificates: e-Science Personal Certificate- for identifying individual users accessing grid services and Personal Certificate- for identifying individual users and securing e-mail communications,” the announcement said.
Certificate requests will be overseen by Comodo, a world-recognised certification authority.
